Rafael Escandon

VP, Development Operations

Rafael Escandon, VP development operations, has worked in global clinical research and development and patient advocacy for the past 25 years across a variety of indications including; cardiology, neurology, oncology and rare diseases. His approach in clinical research and development is to be highly considerate of the ethical implications of conducting and participating in sponsored research, especially in vulnerable and developing-world populations. He has also served as adjunct faculty at the University of California Berkeley’s Clinical Research Conduct and Management Program, in addition to teaching anatomy, physiology and epidemiology at the undergraduate level. Rafael holds graduate degrees in cardiovascular physiology, public health and bioethics from the University of Maryland at Baltimore and the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. Rafael also received clinical training at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
